SOMOCER ET SOTEMAIL, the only African companies to obtain the QB UPEC certification.
Internationally renowned companies in the construction sector, SOMOCER (an industrial company specialized in the production and marketing of ceramic tiles and sanitary ware) and SOTEMAIL (a company specialized in the manufacturing and marketing of porcelain stoneware ceramics for floor and wall coverings) are, to date, the first two companies in Africa to obtain the QB UPEC certification, a prestigious quality certification for the construction sector recognized worldwide.
Associated with the QB (Quality in Building) certification mark, the UPEC classification is intended to certify the compliance of floor coverings with technical specifications defined in a certification framework and allows the assignment of a usage rating for floor coverings. This classification indicates for each product that it is suitable for use in a given room, with sufficient and reasonable durability.
The certification is a recognition by a third party (CSTB France) of compliance with characteristics demonstrating the added value of SOMOCER Group products.
The certified characteristics of the QB application associated with the UPEC classification – ceramic tiles for floor coverings – are: dimensional and planar properties, water absorption, abrasion resistance, mechanical flexural strength, impact resistance, heavy rolling resistance, and resistance to staining agents under ordinary conditions as well as low and high chemical concentrations.
The QB UPEC mark aims to provide a safe and simple way to choose a quality floor covering based on the traffic level of the space where it will be installed. It guarantees the quality and suitability of floor coverings for their intended use.
The UPEC classification, associated with QB certification, provides key information to specifiers to help them choose a quality covering whose performance meets the specific requirements of 10 categories of spaces: housing, offices, stations and airports, retail, hospitality, education, hospitals, elderly care homes, sports halls, kitchens, and restaurants.
It should be noted that 85 companies have obtained the QB UPEC certification, coming from various countries such as Italy, Spain, France, Turkey, Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, the United Arab Emirates, and of course Tunisia through SOMOCER and SOTEMAIL, confirming their status as a true pride for Tunisian industry.
